Insider's tips to navigate the downtown
scene...
- No City Hostels in Richmond at this time. There is a local group working on it.
- Day Gyms beyond your hotel? Downtown YMCA (2 West Franklin Street Richmond, Virginia 23220 (804) 644-9622) is your best bet (full service with indoor pool, strength and cardio equipment/free weights and courts). Check with your hotel if they have complimentary or discounted passes. YMCA has a smaller executive gym located at James Center YMCA 1051 East Cary St Ste 610 (804) 200-6070) convenient to the financial district.
- Parking: Friday night to Sunday nigh weekends (and holidays), downtown meter street parking is free (check the signs)! Don't leave valuables in your car (do I really need to tell you that?). Again, we don't know of any downtown hotels offering free parking (if someone did, it sure would be a nice marketing ploy ;)).
