Pound for pound the best public course in the area. The perfect balance of price, course aesthetics, and variety.  The greens are in unbelievable shape for a daily fee golf course. Natural grass driving range has the area's best deal in practice buckets.

Mark this down: They will play either a US Open or PGA Championship here one day.  Official home of the VSGA.  This is our state's Beth Page.  Fairly high daily fees bump them down to the two spot.

Wide, forgiving fairways and no annoying homes along the course make it a favorite. Good value.  During hunting seasons, deer like to hide here.

Charming, 27 hole course.  Perhaps, the best club house restaurant in Richmond (worth going to by itself).
(5) Mattaponi Springs 22490 Penola Rd Ruther Glen, VA 22546 (804) 633-7888
I'd say the prettiest, most well manicured public course in the area.  Green fees $$, of course, reflect that luxury.
